Three exclusive films to be seen at the BRIFF

Today the BRIFF is unveiling 3 special screenings that will be presented at the 6th edition of the Festival.

Ira Sachs | Special guest at BRIFF

Passages by American director Ira Sachs will be presented in a special screening.

Unveiled at the Berlinale and the Sundance Film Festival, the film explores the complexity of human relationships through the story of a love triangle. The cast includes Franz Rogowski, Ben Whishaw and AdĂšle Exarchopoulos in the lead roles. The film will be shown in a national preview before being released in Belgian cinemas on 16 August.

Les Algues Vertes in the presence of Pierre Jolivet | Green Planet

Through its Green Planet section, the BRIFF aims to highlight stories that invite us to take stock of the current state of the world.

The film Les Algues vertes, directed by Pierre Jolivet, retraces the investigation by journalist InĂšs LĂ©raud into the ecological disaster affecting certain Breton coasts. The film is an adaptation of the comic strip written by InĂšs LĂ©raud and illustrated by Pierre Van Hove: Les Algues vertes – l’histoire interdite. The cast includes CĂ©line Sallette, Nina Meurisse and Julie Ferrier.

En los margenes by Juan Diego Botto | From Sweden to spain

Take a trip across Europe without leaving Brussels! This year, Bozar and the BRIFF are celebrating the incoming and outgoing presidency of the Council of the European Union. After unveiling the three Swedish titles, discover the Spanish film En Los Margenes by Juan Diego Botto.

In this drama, which had its world premiere at the 79th Venice Film Festival, we follow the story of three individuals who bear the full brunt of the housing crisis in Spain and, above all, the scandal of evictions ordered by Spanish banks. The cast of this poignant film includes Penélope Cruz, Luis Tosar and Adelfa Calvo.
