Director - Frederique de Montblanc

Both film director and visual artist, Frédérique de Montblanc was born in Brussels. She studied at Concordia University in Montreal (BFA) then at CalArts in Los Angeles (MFA).
Prior to Dragon Women, she has directed Malta Kano, TX, a short film created with US choreographer Dominic Walsh which premiered at the Brussels Short Film Festival in 2015 and was also selected at Festival Tous Courts (Aix-en-Provence), and at the Dancescreen Festival (London). Her short film The Fall, featuring slam poetry artist Queen KA, was selected in various festivals: Les Rendez-vous du Cinema Quebecois, Le Festival Regard de Saguenay, the Bucharest ShortCut Cinefest. Her video The Cellar was aired on the web channel of Arte Creative in 2012 and presented in an exhibition at the Gallery Martine & Thibault de la Chatre (Paris) that same year.
As a set designer, she has collaborated with various directors and choreographers in Europe and in the US such as: Pascal Rambert (FR), Paris Opera étoile Marie-Agnes Gillot (FR), Compagnie MossouxBonte (BE), the Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre Company (US), Maxence Rey (FR), Maria-Clara Villa Lobos (BE), Sofia Betx (BE) or Clement Thirion (BE).
She has also co-created a number of interdisciplinary projects with visual artists: Bára Sigfúsdóttir (Iceland), Various Artists (BE), Madaleine Trigg (UK), Charlotte Dupont (FR) & Janne Larsen (US).
