Focus on Contemporary Czech Cinema

Presented by BOZAR in partnership with Czech Centre Brussels and Embassy of the Czech Republic to the Kingdom of Belgium

With success of the Czech films at major international film festivals in the past couple of months, including Sundance, Berlinaleand of course the Oscars, we decided to give the Brussels audience a sneak-peak into what is going on with the Czech cinema currently. A carefully prepared selection from the past two years features a timeless dramaabout a small boy lost in the cruel world of adults, a coming of agewinter road-movie, a visually striking metaphor of middle-age self-centeredness, and ablack comedy about two former political prisoners who are – on the verge of death – about to avenge their suffering. Original plots, dark humor and great craft are some of the common attributes of contemporary Czech cinema. Enjoy.
