BRIFF partners with Sabam and WBM to offer a captivating roundtable discussion on film music.
Take this unique opportunity to discover the behind-the-scenes of cinematic music creation through the eyes of two prominent Belgian film professionals, director Fabrice du Welz and composer Vincent Cahay, moderated by the expert Sasha White, music supervisor and head of the music department at Mediawan.
After studying theatre with Jacques Delcuvellerie at the Conservatory of LiĂšge, Fabrice continued his studies at the Brussels film school INSAS. In 1999, the short film QUAND ON EST AMOUREUX C'EST MERVEILLEUX kicked off his career as a filmmaker with a universe of his own. In 2004, with CALVAIRE, he established his name as one of the leading figures of young Belgian cinema and the film was presented at Cannes (Semaine de la Critique).
After completing his acting training at the Conservatory of LiĂšge, Belgian composer Vincent Cahay performed in various theater productions. Starting in 2000, he composed music for both the stage and the screen, in addition to his work in theater. He began his collaboration with Fabrice du Welz in 2004 with the music for CALVAIRE (Semaine de la critique 2004).
Sasha White, Franco-American and originally from Boston (USA) began her career in the music industry as an intern at the Nashville Songwriters Association International, where she was introduced to the world of composers, music publishing, and copyright. Transitioning through the realms of live performances and booking in Philadelphia for Electric Factory, she then arrived in France in 2011. She accepted a position at West One Music Group, a producer/label/publisher of music for visual media, in order launch their activities in France.
