After studying theatre with Jacques Delcuvellerie at the Conservatory of LiĂšge, Fabrice continued his studies at the Brussels film school INSAS. In 1999, the short film QUAND ON EST AMOUREUX C'EST MERVEILLEUX kicked off his career as a filmmaker with a universe of his own. In 2004, with CALVAIRE, he established his name as one of the leading figures of young Belgian cinema and the film was presented at Cannes (Semaine de la Critique).
Between 2008 and 2013, he directed VINYAN (official Venice Film Festival 2008 selection) and the commissioned film COLT 45, produced by Thomas Langmann. In 2014, he collaborated again with Laurent Lucas on ALLELUIA, the second part of his Arden trilogy, which began with CALVAIRE and was presented at the Quinzaine des RĂ©alisateurs in Cannes. In 2015, he shot MESSAGE FROM THE KING, produced by David Lancaster (Drive, Whiplash, Nightcrawler) and Stephen Cornwell (A Most Wanted Man) in Los Angeles. The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in September 2016 and was bought by Netflix. In 2019, he released ADORATION, which screened at Locarno and won multiple awards in Sitges and at the Odesa Festival. In 2021, INEXORABLE was presented at the Toronto Film Festival in the "Special Presentation" section. In 2023, he shot MALDOROR, inspired by true events.
