BROADWAY
Christos Massalas
Nelly, jonge danseres op de vlucht, verschuilt zich in Broadway, een verlaten recreatiecomplex in Athene, gekraakt door een bende pickpockets. Ze sluit zich bij hun groep aan en samen ontwikkelen ze een nieuw plan: Nelly geeft een straatoptreden om de voorbijgangers af te leiden, terwijl de anderen portefeuilles en mobiele telefoons stelen. Het plan werkt goed en Nelly wordt onmisbaar. Maar de komst van een mysterieuze man, die verwond is en bedekt is met verbanden, gaat hun levens en de gang van zaken in Broadway verwarren.

Christos Massalas
Christos Massalas was born in Greece in 1986. He studied Film Theory at Kingston University, London and Filmmaking at the London Film School, LFS. He has worked in film, music video and theater. In addition, he has completed Artist Residencies in Norway and Serbia and has received scholarship from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. His short films have received numerous prizes and have been selected at international film festivals including Cannes, New Directors/New Films, Locarno, AFI Film Fest, Nouveau Cinema, Sarajevo, Thessaloniki and more. In 2016 he was selected as one of the most promising new directors in the world at the 69th Locarno Film Festival. His latest short film COPA-LOCA premiered at the Cannes Film Festival (Directorsâ Fortnight 2017) and won the Best Short Film Award at the Hellenic Film Academy and was nominated for Best Short Film at the European Film Awards. BROADWAY his debut feature project is supported by the Greek Film Center and the Sundance Institute and was selected for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab and the Atelier CinĂ©fondation de Cannes in 2019.
