Tenzij liefde, natuurlijk…

Michel Leclerc is a French screenwriter and director, born April 24, 1965 in Bures-sur-Yvette. Between 1995 and 2000, he participated in the adventure of Télé Bocal, while being an editor for television magazines, and a columnist for C’est Ouvert le Samedi and Nulle part ailleurs on Canal +, and in Mon Kanar on France 3.

Between 1991 and 2002, he also dabbled in fiction, writing and directing several short films, including the award-winning Le Poteau rose (2002, 15 min). He concluded this decade by moving on to more exposed productions: he unveiled a 90-minute documentary on Czech director Jan Švankmajer, but also officiated as screenwriter on 20 episodes of Age Sensible, a sitcom centered on living students in shared accommodation. He moved on to feature films in 2006, with a cast of choice: the comedy J’invente rien, led by the tandem Kad Merad / Elsa Zylberstein, assisted by Claude Brasseur and Patrick Chesnais. The same year, he finalized the script for the dramatic comedy La Tête de Maman, by Carine Tardieu, which was released the following year.

But it was in 2010, with his second film as a writer-director, that he experienced his greatest critical and commercial success. Partly autobiographical, Le Nom des gens earned her, with her partner and co-screenwriter Baya Kasmi, the César for best original screenplay at the 36th César ceremony in 2011. The main actress, Sara Forestier, won the Cesar for Best Actress. He continues to explore this personal vein for his third film. Télé Gaucho allows him to return to his debut on the eponymous show. Released in 2012, the film this time has Félix Moati as its main actor, who will win a César nomination. If he works again with Sara Forestier, other actors evolve there: Éric Elmosnino, Maïwenn and Emmanuelle Béart.

The following year, he returned to television for a very popular project: he was in fact appointed creative director of season 7 of the popular family series Fais pas ci, faire pas ça, alongside screenwriter Cathy Verney. He co-wrote and directed the first (partly shot in Guadeloupe) and third episode. This season was nominated for the International Emmy Awards in 2015.

He returned to the cinema in the process: in 2015, released his fourth feature film, the dramatic comedy La vie très privée de Mr. Sim. He co-signed the screenplay with Baya Kasmi and directed Jean-Pierre Bacri, interpreter of the main role, who won a César nomination.

The same year, he was also co-screenwriter of Baya Kasmi’s first feature film, I’m yours right away. The same year, he was also co-screenwriter of Baya Kasmi’s first feature film, Je suis à vous tout de suite.

In 2016, he returned to Fais pas ci, faire pas ça for his last season. He writes and directs the last two episodes of the series. Filming ends in September, and the broadcast announced for February 2017.

In 2019, he directed La Lutte des classes, co-written with Baya Kasmi, with Édouard Baer and Leïla Bekhti in the lead roles.

In 2020, he directed the special Christmas episode of Fais pas ci, faire pas ça, entitled Y aura-t-il Noël à Noël ?, co-written with Nour Ben Salem.

In 2021, he is also making a documentary on Yvonne and Roger Hagnauer, Penguin and Goéland and their 500 young, which is scheduled for release in November 2021.

In 2021, he wrote and directed his seventh feature film, Les Goûts et les Couleurs, with Rebecca Marder, Félix Moati and Judith Chemla; the release is scheduled for 2022.
