Naarmate de woede en het ongenoegen over het sociale onrecht toenemen, worden veel burgerdemonstraties steeds brutaler onderdrukt. “Un Pays qui se tient sage” nodigt burgers uit om hun opvattingen over de maatschappelijke orde en over de legitimiteit van het gebruik van geweld door de staat te onderzoeken, te bevragen en te confronteren.

David Dufresne

David Dufresne is a writer and director of documentaries. His work ALLO @PLACE_BEAUVAU was awarded the Grand Prix du Jury of the Assises Internationales du Journalisme. In October 2019 he published DERNIERE SOMMATION, his critically acclaimed first novel (Grasset). His latest film LE PIGALLE : UNE HISTOIRE POPULAIRE DE PARIS was unanimously acclaimed by the press. He also made HORS-JEU, DADA-DATA and FORT MCMONEY. He won the World Press Photo 2011 for the best non-linear work for PRISON VALLEY (with Philippe Brault). His first documentary, QUAND LA FRANCE S’EMBRASE, dates back to 2007 and tackled the 2005 riots and the CPE movements. As a writer, David Dufresne has written a dozen investigations, including ON NE VIT QU’UNE HEURE, UNE VIREE AVEC JACQUES BREL (Le Seuil, 2018) and TARNAC, MAGASIN GENERAL (Calmann Lévy, Prix des Assises du Journalisme 2012), described as “a little masterpiece” by Le Monde. In 2001, he also co-wrote PIRATES ET FLICS DU NET (Le Seuil). Reporter for Libération and member of the founding team of Mediapart, he is a pioneer of the French Internet (testimony in La Contre-Histoire de l’Internet, Arte, 2013), and one of the authors of the Manifeste du Web Indépendant (1997). Since September 2018, he has been a member of the Scam’s “Répertoire Audiovisuel” Commission.
