Having grown up in a worrying ordinary small town, CĂ©line Rouzet felt the urge to escape far away, to Papua New Guinea, a country whose strangeness, violence and beauty have been haunting her ever since. After producing numerous documentaries for the French national radio on the struggle to fifit in of marginal people, she directed A DISTANT THUD IN THE JUNGLE, a feature length documentary about the clash of cultures and neocolonialism in Papua New Guinea that was nominated in various international fifilm festivals. With FOR NIGHT WILL COME, co-written by William Martin, CĂ©line makes the opposite journey and returns to the gentle, cruel and equally strange land of her childhood.
