Jim’s Story
Jim's Story (International Competition)
Arnaud & Jean-Marie Larrieu
Aymeric meets up with Florence, an old work colleague, at a chance meeting in Saint-Claude in the Haut-Jura region. She is six months pregnant and single. When Jim was born, Aymeric was there. They spend many happy years together, until the day when Christophe, Jim’s natural father, turns up… It could be the beginning of a melodrama, but it’s also the beginning of a fatherhood odyssey.
â The June 27 screening will be followed by a Q&A session with Arnaud Larrieu, Jean-Marie larrieu et Karim Leklou

Arnaud & Jean-Marie Larrieu
French directors, born in Lourdes in 1966 and 1965 respectively.
Born in the Hautes-PyrĂ©nĂ©es region of France, their passion for the mountains and cinema stemmed from their grandfather, an amateur filmmaker. After studying philosophy, they made a number of short and medium-length films, including Fin d’Ă©tĂ© (1999), then La BrĂšche de Roland (2000) with Mathieu Amalric, which was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes. They reunited with the actor for three more features, including their first, Un homme, un vrai (2003). In 2005, Peindre ou faire l’amour with Daniel Auteuil and Sabine AzĂ©ma was selected in official competition at Cannes. This was followed by Le Voyage aux PyrĂ©nĂ©es (Directors’ Fortnight, 2008) and Les Derniers jours du monde (2009). âOur idea has often been to take the actors off the beaten track by taking them to territories other than their own, while at the same time taking ourselves off the beaten track by watching them evolve in familiar landscapes,â they declare. They reunited with Amalric for the thriller L’Amour est un crime parfait in 2014, and directed Vingt et une nuits avec Pattie (2015) with Karin Viard and Isabelle CarrĂ©, which won the screenplay prize at the San Sebastian Film Festival. Borrowing from musical comedy and burlesque, their latest film Tralala will be released in 2021.
