Jeanne Herry began her acting training at a drama school in London. Shortly after returning to France, she was admitted to the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique in Paris.

She started her career as an actress, making her screen debut in 1990 in Louis Malle’s Milou en mai. She later appeared in the television series Maigret and Clara Sheller before turning her attention to directing and screenwriting. In 2005, she published her first novel, 80 étés.

She then wrote the screenplay for her first feature film, Elle l’adore, a comedy-drama starring Sandrine Kiberlain and Laurent Lafitte. The film earned her a César Award nomination for Best First Feature in 2015, while Sandrine Kiberlain received a nomination for Best Actress.

In 2016, Jeanne Herry directed the stage play L’Or et la paille by Barillet and Gredy at the Théâtre du Rond-Point in Paris. The same year, she directed two episodes of the hit television series Dix pour cent, featuring Juliette Binoche and Isabelle Adjani.

She followed this with her second feature film, Pupille (2018), which received six César Award nominations in 2019.

In 2019, she directed six episodes of the French adaptation of the acclaimed British comedy series Fleabag.

Her third feature film, Je verrai toujours vos visages (2023), is a powerful drama about restorative justice starring Gilles Lellouche, Leïla Bekhti, Adèle Exarchopoulos and Miou-Miou. The film was met with widespread critical acclaim and proved a major success with audiences.
