Fiction . 91' . Belgium / Canada . 2026 . VO FR / ST : EN

Morville, a solitary man in his thirties, is worn down by a system that has let him down. Determined to take matters into his own hands, he becomes a Vigilante, a self-appointed avenger whose goal is to expose and ruin the lives of pedophiles lurking on social media. When one of his friends, also a Vigilante, is brutally attacked, Morville decides once again to take the law into his own hands. He plunges into an even darker world, where he’ll face off against former targets and police, who look down on people like him. Face with the collateral damage of his actions, Morville finds himself grappling with the moral questions raised by his vision of justice.

BRIFF review: For his second feature film, after SpaceBoy (2020), director Olivier Pairoux delivers Vigilante, a contemporary thriller led by a transformed Eddy de Pretto in his first-ever film role. Through the story of a man who tracks down sexual predators on social media, the film explores the dangers of vigilante justice and questions the thin line between justice and revenge. Vigilante challenges our relationship with violence, responsibility, and the limits of our convictions.

Born in Liège in 1977, Olivier Pairoux is a director, screenwriter, script doctor and art director. He is married and the father of two young boys.

A graduate of IAD (Directing section) in 1999, he began his career as an independent director for RTBF and RTL. In 2004, he co-founded the channel PLUG TV with Eusebio Larrea, becoming its art director. From 2007 onwards, his creative responsibilities expanded within PLUG RTL, particularly across in-house entertainment shows produced for RTL TVI and CLUB RTL.

Alongside his television work, Olivier Pairoux has developed a wide range of creative projects, including commercials, music videos, channel branding and other audiovisual content. From 2004, he also hosted several programmes on PLUG RTL, including C’est pas Hollywood, Blog Buster, Plug Vibration, Sampler and Tribus.

In 2018, he directed his first short film, Puzzle, a dark science-fiction comedy starring Philippe Katerine and produced by Kwassa Films. Selected at numerous international festivals (including the Festival International du Film d’Aubagne, Brussels Short Film Festival, Festival de Cinéma de la Ville de Québec, Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, among others), the film was successfully broadcast on RTL-TVI in December 2019.

Still with Kwassa Films, Olivier Pairoux made his first feature film, SpaceBoy. The film tells the story of Jim (Basile Grunberger), a highly gifted child who dreams of building a hot-air balloon to travel into space with his friend Emma (Albane Masson), and to prove to his father (Yannick Renier) that you should never give up on your dreams. Shot in the summer of 2019 and distributed by Belga Films, SpaceBoy was released in Belgium on 27 October 2021, with its premiere at the Ghent International Film Festival. It remained in cinemas for nine consecutive weeks.

To date, SpaceBoy has been selected at more than twenty-five international festivals (including Cinemagic Dublin, Calgary International Film Festival, Cinekid Amsterdam, Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival, FIFEM Montréal, Juniorfest, Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People in Greece, etc.) and has won eight awards, including Best European Children’s Film at the SCHLiNGEL Film Festival in Germany.
