Filmmaking workshop
- animated painting -
Spend a weekend discovering the world of directing and animated film!
Dive into the world of painted animation and discover the creative process behind making a short animated film—from the first idea to the final moving image.
Over the course of two days, you’ll be invited to:
-
Imagine and write a collective script, inspired by animated painting techniques;
-
Create backgrounds and characters by hand using paint, ink, and textures;
-
Animate frame by frame, experimenting with movement on a light table or through stop motion;
-
Take part in all technical steps, from animation to the final rendering.
The workshop is led by filmmaker Mohammad Babakoohi, who will guide you through each stage of the process. Specialized in animated cinema, he has directed several short films using painted animation, including The Elegy of a Thousand Cranes (2021) and his graduation film Feux (2022), selected for the Clermont-Ferrand Festival in 2023 and screened at over forty other festivals.
