MUSIC & CINEMA AWARD
In partnership with the Festival International Music & Cinema Ă Marseille (MCM)
The Festival International Music & Cinema Ă Marseille (MCM), formerly known as the Festival International du Film dâAubagne, has been promoting since 1999 cinematographic creation and musical composition for the screen, by programming both feature-length films and short films and by the organisation of an important industry section around film music, including the European Market for Film Music Composition.
Since 2021, the Brussels International Film Festival and the Festival International Music & Cinema Ă Marseille have been partnering up to grant the Music & Cinema Award to one of the projects selected at the Brussels Co-Production Market.
The awarded project is automatically selected and invited to the next edition of the European Market for Film Music Composition. One month before the event, the project is submitted to composers who work on an original score proposition on the basis of a note of musical intent and the script. During the festival, the producer and director meet a maximum of 5 composers to discuss the project and the compositions, and to potentially chose a collaborator. Each meeting lasts 1h30.
The European Market for Film Music Composition is an initiative of the Festival International Music & Cinema Ă Marseille and has been in place since 2010. It benefits from the support of the SACEM and the CNC.
